There is nothing I am more particular about than my eyebrows. So when Gail Schneider of Wow Brows in Sunny Isles invited me to her studio for a complimentary brow shape, I was apprehensive rather than excited. Not that Gail isn't experienced, to the contrary— she is a brow guru in the same right as Anastasia of Beverly Hills. She has groomed the most fastidious of brows in her former New York City salon, and has a devoted following that includes the women of CNN and beauty editors. Having recently relocated to Miami, Gail has joined forces with her sister Dari ' The waxing duo has set up their joint venture Wow Brows & Waxing Studio.
My "WOW" Moment
After getting over my initial fear, I made an appointment with Gail and confessed to her that no one had touched my brows in years, (yes years!) She assured me she would be gentle and honor my wish for a natural, full brow. About thirty minutes later, after getting trimmed, tweezed, and waxed, I was indeed wowed! Gail's fabulous work evened out my brows and opened up my eyes. I don't even have to use brow gel anymore thanks to my new perfect shape.
Besides brow shaping fit for a diva, Gail & Dari also offer full body waxing, brow tinting, facials and massage. They use only natural wax and products, and ensure you'll get the most bang for your buck, with a brow shape priced at only $20!

Seriously…if my brows start to look faded and bushy, I feel downright unattractive. A few months ago, I was contacted by an old friend Gail Schneider – we had worked together when she was designing heart-disease awareness t-shirts, and now she was opening up a brow salon, Wow Brows, in Park Slope, Brooklyn – blocks from my apartment!
Since then, I’ve been visiting Gail every three weeks – she tints and shapes my brows – with a tweezer! The old-fashioned way! and in the process has helped me to learn a ton about keeping our brows – and our craziness – happy.
I’ve been hoping my friend Gail would share some of her thoughts with us – and this week she agreed to! So, check out her answers below to some of my most pressing brow questions!
Why do you see well-shaped brows to be so important?
Eyebrows are the picture frame of the face. They accentuate your positive facial feature and diminish the less attractive traits. This directly impacts your self esteem and image that you portray to others.
What is the biggest brow “sin” that you think women commit?
Over tweezing, especially in the middle part. This can create a wide set look and most often cause bald spots. Besides, Brows that are too thin can add years to your appearance and usually will not grow back.
Do you get lots of men clients?
Definitely. It is becoming a natural part of their grooming and well being. More men are looking into changing their unibrows and bushy caterpillars. With men it’s about a groom and clean up, not arched or shaped.
What big brow trends are you seeing for 2010?
Just like any fashion, eyebrows should always be classic and never a trend. They should complement your facial features and bring out the beautiful traits. Today eyebrows are shaped more naturally and proportionally to emphasize your eyes and balance the features.
